Welcome to Resource 2009-2010...

My name is Mady Plumer and this is my fourth year at St. Patrick School.  My job as resource teacher this year is to work with students whose homeroom teacher would like additional support in kindergarten, fifth, and sixth grades. Through ongoing assessments, monitoring and adjustment of instruction, I am able to, along with the homeroom teacher, decide on the necessary support needed to make each child's school year successful.
Literacy support for grades one through four is provided by Sr. Marilyn.  
In addition, I work with students, in any grade, who would benefit from  enrichment in their studies.  These children are mastering their subject matter and need an additional challenge in their studies.  Parents, along with my colleagues, can bring this to my attention at any time during the year.  However, I always emphasize the need to speak with your child's homeroom teacher before contacting me.  My lines of communication have always been open and honest with my colleagues.
There is a request form for resource involvement in the school office.  Simply fill one out and then put in my mailbox.  Since I only work 2.5 days a week, I may not get back to you immediately, but surely will within a week's time.  Then we will set up a conference (which might or might not involve the homeroom teacher) and talk about any concerns or questions you may have.

Lastly, I coordinate the After-School Enrichment program, which you can get a small glimpse into by going to my "Documents" link.  There, you will also see Pop Kidz, a magazine written by and for kids by our Creative Journalism after-school class.  What a delightful and kid friendly product.
