8M RELIGION

TEXTBOOK: 8th Grade Religion students will be using BLEST ARE WE, THE STORY OF OUR CHURCH (Silver Burdett Ginn Religion) as their textbook this year. The eighth-grade program of the Blest Are We series is devoted to the study of God’s faithful love as it is revealed in the Church founded by Jesus Christ. Lessons are designed to help students grow in their knowledge and love of the Church.

HOMEWORK: Homework is due at the beginning of class. No late papers will be accepted. There are no redoes.

ABSENCES: If a student is absent they are responsible to find out what their missing assignments are. Students will be allowed two school days for every day they miss to turn in absent assignments. After that time students will receive an "F" for missing assignments.

GRADING: Trimester grades will be determined by taking the average of all homework grades.

7TH GRADE PRE-ALGEBRA/8TH GRADE ALGEBRA

TEXTBOOKS: 7th Grade Pre-Algebra students will be using PRE-ALGEBRA (McDougal Littell) as their textbook this year. 8th Grade Algebra students will be using ALGEBRA 1 (McDougal Littell) as their textbook this year.

HOMEWORK: Homework will be daily and sometimes lengthy. Set aside time at home to finish it and possibly review it with your child. Daily homework will be worth 3 points. One point for complete lecture notes, one point for completed homework, and one point for corrected homework. Homework will be corrected in class. Because we are going over homework daily in class, no late papers will be accepted. There are no redoes. The homework grade is determined by dividing the number of points a student receives by the number of points possible.

ABSENCES: If a student is absent they are responsible to find out what their missing assignments are. They should complete the missing assignment and turn the completed work in. Students will be allowed two school days for every day they miss to turn in absent assignments. After that time students will receive 0 points for missing assignments.

QUIZZES/TESTS: The quiz grade is determined by taking the average of all quiz grades. The test grade is determined by taking the average of all test grades.

GRADING: Trimester grades will be determined by the following percentages:

                                    Homework:                    55%

                                    Quizzes:                       15%
