IMS 7th Grade Science Update: March
Posted by Christie Santodomingo on March 24, 2016 at 2:52pm

Dear Families,

I hope you are well! We are now into Tri III and beginning our Earth in Space unit. Most students have returned their Catastrophic Events books which have been checked back in and packed for the new school. If they haven’t yet, they may still do so.

Today we created a scaled model of the Earth-Moon-Sun system and went outside on the track to lay it out. Students are sharing their knowledge about space with their peers and asking great questions. I am encouraging them to research their questions and share their discoveries with the class. We are working out of the Earth in Space textbook.

Last week, students reviewed their Tri II academic and social goals for science and created new goals for Tri III.  Goals can be found in their composition book. Students are continuing to keep an organized science composition book for Tri III.

Students did an amazing job on their catastrophic events research, presentations, and 3-D models! Students chose their topic, who they worked with (or if they wanted to work independently), the presentation style, and 3D model. Please see pictures of the 3D models on our website at: http://www.swiftclassroom.com/ims/santodomingoc/student-work. Projects included tsunamis, earthquakes, volcanoes, floods, and hurricanes.

Thank you for your support,
